All I seem to hear about is why people should pack up smoking. Well if that is the case, why do the Government not make all Quit Smoking Aids FREE from Pharmacies. Junkies can get Needles Free, Why Not Patches/Gum for Smokers.

I was a smoker, started when I was 11- and married at 16, the moment the DR said I was preggers, as I walked out of the DR office, I dump my cigaretts in the garbage can!
stay quit foir nine months…. all on my own, it is a mind thing, anything you set your mind to do, you can do it.
I will admit though some things are more difficult for some others, like I cant seem to loose weight for the life of me! but I drop them smokes like a hot potato!
I want to add, I would goi back to smoking each time I had my baby- (had 3 of them) and when my baby daughter was 2- she picked up a pencil and was pretending to smoke- I said right then NO MORE.
That has been almost 17 years ago.

what is it that makes people smoke again after quiting? I havent smoked for 6 days and today I feel horrible, i feel tired and weak and my mind is lost but am not smoking and am wondering am i supposed to be smoking? is this the point where people say this is too much i need a cigarette?

Didn’t quit, but I’ll answer what its like when I can’t get one. My stomach gets heavy, as if I’m nervous – but not. My breathing feels funny, I try to distract my mind with something else, futile. My stomach starts hurting more, so bad I start moving a lot. I get up in search of one, mother of jesus.. light, hit it, hold, blow sweet relief. I feel lightheaded and great.

Now, some people say they get pissed off when they don’t have one. Somewhat true, its more like if you try to piss me off on purpose, I’ll get more angry then I usually do.

I’m 21 years old and been smoking for 5 years now my sense of smell is diminishing and I’m concern. I’m in the growing up phase which means partying, clubbing and drugs but realize that it will slowly become worst. So how can I quit smoking when it’s like a social part of my life?

My fiance has been smoking on and off for probably 15 years. He’s successfully quit a few times, only to eventually end up smoking again. He smokes about half a pack a day right now. He knows how much I can’t stand it because I don’t want to lose him to cancer or heart disease in 20 years, but this doesn’t seem to deter him enough. He wants to stop, or at least he says so, and he has tried the gum and the lozenges with a little success, but he doesn’t seem completely motivated (sometimes he’ll choose the cigarette over the lozenge, for example). What can I do to help him stop for good? Do you have any ideas, or ways that you’ve helped someone stop smoking?
He hates fixing stuff up around the house, unless it’s a comuputer heh… but I could keep his hands busy with a video game.. thanks for the idea.

I think he also likes the social aspect of smoking, which is an even harder thing to break imo…

Once he stops, then GET HIM BUSY!!!

You have to "break the cycle" of "hand to mouth" routine. By keeping him busy, you will be doing him a favor, and yourself a favor.

For one thing, buy him some tools and have him repair stuff around the house. This will make him think you "really love him" (As any woman who would buy a man a tool is the BEST TYPE OF WOMAN!!!)

Then, get him busy doing those "little projects" you always wanted to get done.

Now, dont get him started drinking beer, for the cigarrettes, or it will be another addiction that will be hard to stop!! Give him some Gatoraide, or Soda (if you give soda, make SURE you drink one glass of water for every glass of soda you drink, as the soda will turn your body acidic and cause teeth deterrioration and other health problems).
