E-Cig News Report

E-cigarettes have allowed many people to quit as they come in several flavors and look like a real cigarette because they have a vapor but there is no secondhand smoke that is harmful. There is no tar and all the other poisons that tobacco smokes have. We need to get Health Canada approving their sale in Canada to help people who want to quit have a better chance with a product that makes quitting pleasurable not painful! They are an amazing gadget that will save many lives and improve the health of others. Think of the saving to our health care system. There are no fumes, ashtrays, burn holes or fire hazards with this product. What do you think?

I like the idea of no smoking as much as the next guy, but… shouldn’t you be doing more off line and less on Yahoo? I’m American, and I don’t know how you guys run things (I truly hope I don’t offend you), but for anything like a Petition to mean anything, it has to be pen on paper. Virtual chain-letters and things like this don’t change anything. Hope things go better for you.

Hey everyone, i’ve read every single report on e-cig made by FDA. Apparently, they are not safe and a number of toxic chemicals were found in analysis. Ok, we all know normal cigarettes contain over 4000 toxic chemicals leading to cancer… But are these e-cigs BETTER then normal cigarettes? (Disregarding nicotine addiction, if e-cig is not used for smoking cessation) Can anyone, please, objectively help me with this… because i am totally lost. I’ve been smoking for 3 years now. Almost 1 pack a day, but i can’t seem to quit.. maybe e-cig can help?
Thank you :)

Yes, IMHO they are far better. And it’s not just my opinion, you read the FDA’s own report, didn’t you notice they found them to be far better as well?

Quote from the FDA Report: "Tobacco specific nitrosamines and tobacco specific impurities were detected in both products at very low levels." *1

Notice it says "very low levels". The levels detected were on the scale of parts per TRILLION and "detected" as "the published method is quite sensitive for the TSNAs (i.e. LOQ’s of approximately 40 pg/mL or 40 parts per trillion)".

It is interesting to note however, that the three TSNA’s tested for in the Nicotrol Inhaler were not at "detectable levels" but rather at very definable levels. Namely: Cotinine: .5%, Myosmine: .5%, Nicotyrine: .5%. It should also be noted these same impurities are found in the patch, the gum and many other nicotine replacement therapies that derive flavors or nicotine from tobacco.

To put it in perspective, if you add up the levels of all four of the carcinogens found, here is the comparison of their totals:

Electronic Cigarettes: 8.18 nanograms / gram (ng/g)
Nicotine Patch: 8.00 ng/ patch
Nicotine Gum: 2.00 ng/ piece
Marlboro Cigarette: Eleven thousand one hundred and ninety ng/g *3

So while the e-cigs did indeed contain carcinogens found in tobacco at "detectable" levels, they were far below the FDA approved device and on the scale of thousands of times lower than those in regular cigarettes.

How can that possibly not be better??

Add to that the fact that, unlike every stop smoking aid made by the big drug companies, there have been no known reports of any major side effect from any ecig user, other than perhaps a dry throat. The FDA has had a hot line for almost a year now for people to call in and tell them how evil the ecig is, what horrible side effects they suffered… and you know what?? The FDA still has yet to report ONE single person calling in.

As a matter of fact, a recent poll of smokers / non smokers and ecig users found something interesting:

Question 4 Are Electronic Cigarettes Dangerous?

16% said YES | 48% said NO | 36% said NOT SURE

Now this one is the most interesting so let’s break it down all the way:

* Non-Smokers: 32.6% yes | 15.1% no | 52.3% not sure
* Smokers: 10.9% yes | 24.8% no | 54.3% not sure
* E-cigarette users: 0% yes | 98.6% no | 1.1% not sure
* E-cig users who smoke: 0% | 89.5% | 10.5% not sure

Now this really came as no surprise that not one single vaper answered yes. It’s one of the things that is frustrating the anti smoking campaigns and the FDA; they can’t seem to find any e-cig users who claim any adverse health problems or side effects at all. This is indeed rare and unusual for them.

While there may not be a billion dollar study to prove it, tens of thousands of people will tell you, me included, that electronic cigarettes helped them quit smoking far better than the patch and gum with their miserable less than 15% success rate. Worked for us, might work for you, who knows. Sadly, we can’t say it will.

You can do some research on the best brands here: http://electroniccigarettespot.com/electronic-cigarette-brands/brand-index

And I honestly wish you luck, no matter how you quit, it’s the best thing you can do.

Where in miami do they sell electric cigarettes or disposable electric cigarettes?

Hello,

you can find them at small kiosks in some local malls. But they are usually overpriced.
I would recommend that you research some brands online, read reviews, compare prices, and then make an educated decision.
This page here lists various brands with ratings and reviews from actual users

I would suggest that you order an ecig with a 30 day money back guarantee. That way you could return it if you do not like it.

Why hasn’t the electric cigarette been advertised more around the nation? I just tried one this past weekend and it seems like a good substitute for cigarettes…. they are cheaper, does not cause cancer, no second hand smoke, etc. Also, it can be smoked anywhere.

Also, anyone know of a downside to this electric cigarette (in comparison to regular cigarettes)?

Its generally a new product and kind of hard to explain / convince some smokers that it is a worth wild investment. I got a kit from www.electronictobacco.com and I love it. My old smokers cough is finnally gone and I feel allot better. I think its going to take off more as more localities institute smoking bans.
