There are many scientifically proven stop smoking medications available in the market today that will help a person stop the habit of smoking. Although they do not work all by themselves, the stop smoking medications does help a person feel more comfortable and in control while adjusting to a life free from the habit. As a matter of fact, these stop smoking medications help double your chances of quitting the smoking habit.

Although there are stop smoking medications available without a doctor’s prescription, it would be best if you consult your doctor for the decision in choosing which medication or combination of stop smoking medications will be suitable for you.

The Nicotine Patch

The nicotine patch is a small, adhesive patch that slowly releases nicotine into the bloodstream through the outer layer of the skin. It can be applied anywhere between the waist and neck and is easy to use. It is also available without a doctor’s prescription and in various doses. This flexibility allows a person to manage one’s withdrawal symptoms and cravings and also helps taper the amount of nicotine you will receive as you slowly become comfortable with not smoking.

The Nicotine Gum

Nicotine gum keeps your mouth busy, and it also satisfies your smoking cravings quickly. The gum is made from a special material called polacrilex. To release the nicotine from the gum, chew until you feel a tingling sensation in your mouth. Now, to absorb the nicotine, hold the chewed gum between the cheek and gums until the taste or tingling sensation disappears. If you want more nicotine, just chew and hold it for several times. You can buy it over the counter in 2-4 ml doses and chew it as often as needed. A person can use up to 24 pieces of gum a day.

The Nicotine Lozenge

Nicotine lozenges are similar to hard candy. You place them in your mouth and suck them slowly. It can be used discreetly to quickly satisfy your cravings. Each lozenge can last for 20- 30 minutes. This stop smoking medication system is available over the counter in 2-4 ml dose. Just do not swallow it whole as you will get too much nicotine, which may cause dizziness and nausea.

The Nicotine Inhaler

The nicotine inhaler is a device that allows you to get low doses of nicotine using the same hand to mouth motions of smoking. Puffing gently on this device releases a small dose of nicotine from a cartridge in the device. Hold the vapor in your mouth for a few seconds and then blow it out. The nicotine is absorbed thru the tissues of the mouth and throat.

The Nicotine Nasal Spray

The nicotine nasal spray reaches the bloodstream more quickly than the other stop smoking medications. The nicotine nasal spray is sprayed through your nostrils. The recommended dose is a spray into each nostril one to five times an hour. This system is available only thru a doctor’s prescription as the side effects are nasal, throat, and sinus irritation.

Smoking is a complex addiction with a lot of physical and psychological elements. The most effective strategy to quit smoking is to combine stop smoking medications with a program that includes support from professionals specifically trained to treat tobacco use and dependence.

In this article I am going to share with you some of the specific ways Hypnotherapy Hertfordshire can help you to stop smoking, for good. With the smoking ban fast approaching in the UK (July 1st 2007), many people are beginning to feel the social pressures to stop smoking. The benefits of stopping smoking are immeasurable. Without question you will be much healthier and perhaps more importantly free from the control you should have felt by being at the mercy of a horrible, smelly and expensive habit. Hypnotherapy Hertfordshire is a hypnotherapy practice based in Aldbury, near Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire. At Hypnotherapy Hertfordshire, you are supported to give up smoking with ease and also quickly. What this means is there won’t be months of relying on expensive nicotine patches and other replacement therapies, which in my opinion, just keep the physical addiction going, longer then necessary.

When you make the decision to seek support from Hypnotherapy Hertfordshire to help you stop smoking, we take steps to ensure that you are given the best possible chance of quitting. One of the ways in which Hypnotherapy, Hertfordshire, does this is by assessing your motivation to stop. From experience, it is clear to us that you must want to stop smoking now and you must also want to do this for yourself. The therapist will help you identify whether this is the case. Clients who are not considered motivated enough will be advised to come back, when the time is right. That way you are not wasting money and we are not wasting out time!

At Hypnotherapy Hertfordshire, we use various different hypnotherapy techniques to assist our clients so that they are able to stop smoking. The techniques used depend on the unique needs of the client. Some of the techniques include:

Identifying and consolidating your reasons to stop smoking- At Hypnotherapy Hertfordshire, we have many facts and information about the negative effects of smoking on the mind and body. The hypnotherapist spends time with you, supporting you in applying this information to yourself and your life. The result is that perhaps for the first time, you can appreciate that harm from smoking, is not something that happens to other people. At this stage in the session you will begin to will feel the strong desire to move away from smoking forever.

Identifying the benefits and positive rewards of stopping smoking – its not all doom and gloom! It is also very important to begin focusing on what you will gain by stopping smoking and how your life will improve massively for the better. The therapist will also spend time with you, discussing and exploring the positive impact quitting smoking and remaining a non-smoker will have on your life. You will also be guided to set goals for the future. These will focus on things you wouldn’t have been able to do as a non-smoker. You will be amazed at the new options you have for relaxing, becoming more healthy, going to new places and of course spending all that extra money you will save by stopping smoking.

Hypnosis with positive suggestion. Of course, part of your stopping smoking treatment at Hypnotherapy Herts will involve you getting to sit back and relax whilst your unconscious mind does the learning! During this process you will be guided to a deep state of relaxation, whilst the therapist also directs your unconscious mind with suggestions and metaphors to stop smoking. You will also be supported to develop positive coping strategies. Acknowledge that your smoking habit has served a purpose in the past, in that it has likely been a method for coping. Hypnotherapy and NLP techniques (neuro linguistic programming) will enable you to develop positive coping strategies that serve you in the present and future. One of the new positive coping strategies could be learning to use an anchor. If the therapist feels that you would benefit from having an anchor created, this will also be part of the stop smoking treatment session at Hypnotherapy, Hertfordshire. An anchor, is basically a positive resource of emotions that you can fire off, when you need extra emotional strength to cope.

There are also several formal change techniques, which are effective for helping you to stop smoking. The most appropriate technique will depend on your unique problem. At Hypnotherapy, Hertfordshire, these techniques are used if required. Examples include: The Swish Technique which can be used if you wish to replace a highly contextualised problem behaviour with a more positive behaviour. It works to eliminate behaviours that occur in specific situations after specific triggers. 2) Parts Integration is very useful at uncovering the positive intention of your smoking habit and dealing with incongruent behaviour and feelings. 3) Like To Dislike – This technique is based on information about how we code memories in our brain. We tend to code things we like in a different way to things we don’t like. So, its possible to recode your memory of smoking into something that you find disgusting.

Hypnotherapy Hertfordshire provides a free consultation to those who make the decision to use Hypnotherapy Hertfordshire to stop smoking. In addition, free support for the next six months is provided. This means that at any time within six months you should you start smoking again, we will work for free to get you to quit smoking again. Hypnotherapy, Hertfordshire works on the basis that it is possible to have you stop smoking in one session. This is because we deal with all that aspects of your habit in this session, so that you leave a non-smoker and are done with that old habit.

I Just Can’t Stop Smoking!!!

Many people who are smokers and  continuously try to quit smoking over and over again may come to the only conclusion that falsely presents itself to them that they can’t and will never stop smoking and that this is their destiny forever to be a confirmed smoker. What puppydoo!!

Why do some smokers succumb to this fate? Why do smokers give up trying to stop smoking? It’s a question that I personally would like to answer with my own feelings and if I may the true fact that is the true answer.

If you smoke or if you have just stopped smoking recently and you are already thinking about how much are suffering and maybe you are already contemplating having another cigarette because you just can’t go through it anymore, then please before you crumble and start smoking again, lets go back to that moment or moments when you realised that you were, or are a mug for smoking and the time has come to stop smoking, using tobacco and finally escape your nicotine addiction.

Are you there?

Good…now ask yourself this…Why do I have good intentions to quit smoking but never see them through?

Ready for the answer? Because you as a smoker who goes through this pathetic experience every time, knows that you shouldn’t smoke anymore, but  you are just another victim of the powerful brainwashing that cigarettes-Tobacco Companies-other smokers have forced upon you that you are actually or genuinely making some sort of huge sacrifice in your life and that because you stopped smoking, you are being punished for cutting away from this evil social epidemic that has prisoned you for whatever time span you have been smoking cigarettes.

That is the only answer to that question!

Any intelligent smoker who amicably has all the good intention in the world to become an ex-smoker will never walk away from nicotine addiction if they approach it thinking that to quit smoking means that the smoker has to make a sacrifice of some sort, or even pathetically worse, is sacrificing something in their lives that they thought actually helped them get through it. (life) This approach is suicide and guaranteed 200% to be nothing but an imminent failure. I have studied and analysed this and trust me it is true.

When I was a smoker I was also convinced that smoking cigarettes actually helped me get through life and face it head on with know worries as long as I had my pack in my pocket I was on top of everything. It was only when I didnt have them did I become panic stricken. This was the addiction nothing more nothing less, and the beautiful way that it is designed to make you think that it actually helps you in life yet in reality it does the complete opposite. I know this..it is true and I, like thousands of other ex-smokers know that life is completely amazing when you DO stop and stop for good.

If you are like the millions of people without the education as of why you smoke and you decide to finally stop smoking but become all panic stricken because the decision to stop smoking  you are making (again maybe) means that you will suffer then please stop right there before you continue. Stop right there..right now and just listen to me with an open mind.

Maybe you will ask questions like:-

  • How can I possibly survive without them?
  • How can I enjoy life, or social events without my cancer giving friends?
  • What will I do when I get stressed, need to concentrate?
  • What will I do after my meals and with my drinks?

There are more questions that I’m sure you could add but you get the picture right?  The reason for questions like these and more the like, is just “Fear” which the cigarette has started, caused, created, sustained whilst the smoker continues to use them.  Don’t believe me ?…then please compare a smoker to a non-smoker…need I say more? Ok …just one thing… Why don’t people who do not smoke panic when they don’t have cigarettes. Thats because they don’t need them to live…In fact if you don’t realise and believe this then you need ya head examining.

It’s a constant tug-o-war for the smoker and it continues like this until the smoker actually starts thinking that they “CAN” stop smoking because they don’t need it not now and not ever!

Smokers need to educate themselves why the cigarette gets a hold of them so , and why they are tricked into believing that the cigarette actually helps them. When they know this they can walk away from this evil trap  in a focused, happy, strong and committed frame of mind then they will succeed. I promise you. If you are afraid that you can’t stop smoking then you have been fooled and you are condoning this subconsciously too.

When you do stop..and I believe you will..life changes amazingly for the better. It becomes yours again. Your health your energy and your money all come running back to you instantly.

But hey..how the hell are you gonna know this if you keep saying to yourself…
